Ready for More Fantasy? Following from its brief stint as a PS2 exclusive in 2004, Atari finally got around to releasing the PC and Xbox versions of Demon Stone earlier in the year – though you’d be forgiving for not having noticed. As a straight-out action/adventure game it’s a good deal of fun (if a little on the short side), offering up some excellent virtual cinematography; and not that we’re complaining, but it makes for an unusual PC release. Stormfront Studios, the well-known studio for its work on the Lord of the Rings action games, is back with a game that takes place in the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms universe. Since Stormfront did an excellent job developing Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Return of the King, you?d expect that Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone (FRD) would be an excellent follow up for the development team; while that is true in some cases, FRD falls short in other areas. To conclude, Demon Stone is a fairly good game although not in any way spectacular. On the other hand, the flood of the last year's military shooters also wasn't very spectacular - well, at least not in the good sense of the word, so we shouldn't discard this title just for that. The feeling I got while playing this game was that something was missing - I guess all the elements were there, they just didn't seem to work right. I loved the game's graphics but hated the camera angles and the occasional clipping issues. The characters looked promising, but instead they turned out to be one-dimensional and without character. I certainly do not mind some good hack'n'slash action, but I do mind the obvious lack of more advanced RPG elements. The character development system left me unsatisfied and with a feeling there was a lot more room for progress. The lack of a proper inventory is not a real downside, but the lack of a more detailed character development system certainly is. Then again, although the story develops in a satisfying manner (and is narrated beautifully by Patrick Stewart), it is something I have heard at least thousands of millions of times. The combat is simple and not very diverse, but nevertheless it seems to work out for most part, although it could have used more diversity. The game is also rather short, which is both good and bad; it's bad because? well, because *I* say it's bad; and good, because you'll get sick of that linear hack-and-slash action. Review @ eToychesterstellt am um 13:18 Uhr von Pandur 82% hat Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone in eToychest Review erhalten: The setting is the most apparent disparity between Demon Stone and Stormfront?s previous effort. Set solidly in the world of Forgotten Realms, and scripted by award-winning author R.A. Salvatore, Demon Stone will be instantly familiar to fans of the D&D universe. The game boasts a nearly encyclopedic repertoire of creatures ripped straight from the pages of a monster manual, and both the spell lists and locales will please fans with their accuracy. A few familiar faces also make appearances, including Salvatore?s most famous creation, the dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden. The story itself is somewhat standard fare for this type of setting, centering around three bold adventurers who face off against insurmountable odds and dark wizards. It won?t net Salvatore any additional awards, but it is well scripted and enjoyable throughout. For a videogame, especially, it is more than sufficient.
